Megan Allyse, Ph.D.

Associate Professor
Department of Biomedical Ethics Research Program
Mayo Clinic
Jacksonville, Florida

Dr. Megan Allyse is an associate consultant in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at Mayo Clinic and is an associate professor in the Biomedical Research Ethics Program with a joint appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

Dr. Allyse is an empirical bioethicist with a focus on issues around reproductive ethics, women?s health, and health disparities in access to care, specifically in genetic and stem cell technologies. She also has an interest on the impact of novel genetic technologies on patients, families, and communities. Dr. Allyse has extensive research and publications on the clinical translation of noninvasive prenatal genetic screening. Through her research, Dr. Allyse directly impacts patient care at Mayo Clinic by collaborating with providers to measure and improve the provision of prenatal and preconception genetic services.

Dr. Allyse received her Doctor of Philosophy in sociology and social policy from the University of Nottingham in 2010. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford University Medical Center, where she researched and analyzed the ethical, legal and social implications of genetic technologies, particularly the policy and legal implications of morally controversial technologies.
